Do I need a new keyboard?
No. It works with the Mac you already use.
Is this a Mac app?
Yes. It's for macOS only.
What do I need to enable?
The app needs Input Monitoring permission to detect key presses and play sounds. Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Input Monitoring, click the + button, select Keysound App, and turn the toggle on. Then restart the app. It does not record or store anything you type.
The app doesn't make any sound?
Make sure Input Monitoring is enabled and the toggle is turned on (blue). After enabling, quit and relaunch the app. On macOS 15+, the app won't appear in the list automatically — you must add it manually via the + button.
Is it safe? What about my privacy?
Keysound App only listens for key-down events to trigger sounds. It never reads which key you pressed, never records input, and sends nothing over the network. The app is notarized by Apple and signed with a Developer ID certificate.
